Trashbat regressa com novo EP

Isto a partir de agora vem tudo em catadupa... convenhamos: ano novo... vida nova! 

Posto isto, se calhar não ficava mal ao vosso dia, um novíssimo extended play, do nosso velho conhecido Trashbat. Chama-se "We Hate You EP", e é o mais recente exclusivo bandcamp, que o produtor inglês, acaba de lançar em edição de autor, sendo que segundo o próprio "these are a collection of slightly darker, more "dancefloor" tracks than usual... that lots people been asking".

 

Version Collective revela Hail EP de Trashbat

Depois de Basiclee, Mr K e Ramsez, coube ao nosso velho conhecido Trashbat, a honra de assinar o mais recente lançamento, da já incontornável Version Collective. 

Sucessor do muito elogiado "Gold Fire" de 2014, "Hail EP" mostra um Trashbat mais maduro, embutido pelo espírito inicial do Dubstep, mas sem nunca esquecer a sua inconfundível assinatura sónica e desejo de avançar. 

Street Ritual lança Suru de Dillard

A californiana Street Ritual, é uma editora que tem na sua génese, a busca por uma evolução consciente da bass music, arte e cultura underground. 

Se a génese é apresentada desta maneira, a sua musica não lhe fica atrás! Acabado de chegar as lojas, esta o novo EP do nosso velho conhecido Dillard, "Suru", é segundo a editora uma "Experience an otherworldly, tranquilizing yet captivating journey through dubstep feels made possible through deep sub-bass, syncopated percussives, & soothing vocals", não poderíamos ainda deixar de destacar, a colaboração com Trashbat em "Atom".

Mindstep lança Ep de estreia de Animai

Após ter dado nas vistas junto de nomes como Vaun, Wayfarer e Trashbat, finalmente a britânica Animai saiu do casulo e lançou o seu primeiro Ep em nome próprio. 

Editado pela Mindstep, "Beneath Ep" conta com a participação ao nível da produção de nomes como Anex, Trashbat e Vaun e mostra-nos uma Animai aventureira a nível vocal e com uma enorme vontade de mostrar a sua escrita.

Interchill Records lança V/A - Subtextures

Activa desde de 1993, a editora canadiana Interchill Records é conhecida por explorar o mundo da musica electrónica na sua vertente mais orgânica, sem nunca limitar a sua acção a sonoridades ou géneros. 

Sendo que para o seu cinquentésimo quarto lançamento, a Interchill decidiu envergar numa excursão panorâmica e imersiva pela vertente mais atmosférica bass music, a que deu o nome de "Subtextures". 

Prevista para 15 de Junho e compilada por Naasko, "Subtextures" reúne 14 temas de alguns dos produtores mais interessantes do Reino Unido, Canada, EUA e Austrália, onde deep grooves se cruzam com elementos de Dub, Jazz e Downtempo.

Trashbat regressa a Mindstep com Gold Fire Ep

Directamente da casa Mindstep, chega-nos o terceiro Ep a solo de Trashbat, que poucos dias de ter trazido as suas sonoridades a Portugal, apresenta-nos "Gold Fire Ep". 

Com 6 faixas, este trabalho inclui com colaborações das vocalistas Animai e Sarah Zad, como tem sido habitual em lançamentos anteriores desta editora. 

Para quem é familiarizado com o trabalho de Trashbat, este mesmo lançamento reflecte tudo o que o produtor nos tem trazido até agora, temos num reportório mais Downtempo/Lounge "Scale & Tusk" embebida com as viciantes vocais de Sarah Zad, como em "Nine9 Style" e "Moist Beat" onde demonstra um lado mais groove que instantaneamente nos coloca os ombros a saltitar, onde pelo caminho podemos encontrar uma aura astral em "Gijinka" onde somos guiados pela voz da vocalista Animai e pelas cordas de uma hipnotizante harpa em direcção a "Gold Fire", faixa que entitula o lançamento, onde o produtor de Kent explora um lado mais Dub, sempre com o seu magistral toque de soul. 

Este lançamento está disponivel desde dia 17/11/2014 na Juno Downloads, e irá chegar às restantes lojas a partir do dia 24/11/2014. 

Definitivamente algo para adicionar à bag.

Jeph1 & I-Mitri lançam Blaze via Mindstep

Já diz o ditado "Quem corre por gosto, não cansa", sendo que enquanto houver editoras como a Mindstep, é impossível os nosso ouvidos se cansarem. 

Após terem lançado "Polaroids" de Sepia, a Mindstep volta a carga, desta vez com o single "Blaze" de Jeph1 & I-Mitri. 

Disponível desde do passado dia 3 de Novembro, "Blaze" assinala a estreia do produtor grego Jeph1 pela editora inglesa, numa combinação perfeita entre o sentimento Dub, a dinâmica de espaço e a palavra consciente de I-Mitri. 

E como por aqueles lados nada é deixado ao acaso, podem ainda contar com 3 remixes insanas de Dubkasm, Trashbat e The Illuminated.

 

Anex lança Heartbeat Ep

Após algum tempo afastado dos holofotes, o Nottingham finest Anex esta de volta ao activo com o Ep "Heartbeat". 

Lançado para as ruas no inicio do mês passado, "Heartbeat Ep" chega até nos pelas mãos da MindStep Music e traz um Anex em excelente forma, sendo que conta ainda com uma remix de Trashbat. 

Em termos de sonoridade, podem esperar de "Heartbeat" um cruzamento sem qualquer espécie de rodeio ou formalismo pré-concebido entre o groove e jazz com o deep e dark.
 

Trashbat lança Hanako

Contrariando a habitual entrada sob ressaca, Janeiro entrou com o pé direito, sendo o nosso velho conhecido Trashbat um dos responsáveis isso. 

Prestes a lançar mais um concentrado de soulfood musical, Trashbat uniu-se mais uma vez a Mindstep, para lançar o seu segundo Ep, "Hanako", que chegara as lojas já no próximo dia 20 de Janeiro e no qual contara com a participação de Vaun.

Em termos de produção "Hanako", marca um passo em frente para Trashbat, que sem deixar para traz a sonoridade melodiosa que o caracteriza, conseguiu evoluir em termos da transmissão de sentimentos, que capta através de suaves linhas de piano, atmosferas intrigantes e toques de guitarra, sempre com um toque de jazz inerente.
 

Chord Marauders lançam Groove Booty Vol. II

Depois da estreia auspiciosa em Maio passado, o colectivo Chord Marauders esta de regresso com o segundo volume da compilação bi-anual "Groove Booty". 

Disponível desde dia 30 de Novembro e lançada em exclusivo em formato digital pela próprias mãos, "Groove Booty Vol. II" continua na senda do primeiro volume, com linhas de Dubstep inteligente, toques de jazz e percussões cheias de groove. 

Sendo ainda de destacar a presença na compilação dos "primos afastados" Trashbat e Gerwin.

Take a step to Dub - Hi Trashbat, how are you today? 

Trashbat - Hello, yeah im wicked, thanks. 

TSD - Alright, can you give the readers a little background about yourself? 

T - My name's Callum Grant, I'm 23, from South East London, I produce electronic music. 

TSD - How did you get into Dubstep? What drove you to get as far as you are now? 

T - erm, well i used to be heavily into death metal, nu metal, pretty much anything metal, me and most of my mates all listened to it, and were in a band together, one of my mates however, didn't really go down that path and was more into things like Hip hop and garage, and he used to show me things like DMX and Oxide & Neutrino, most of it at the time i'd hate, but after a while certain things really clicked with me, like UK Garage, then the same friend showed me drum and bass and i was hooked from there, i decided to try my hand at making it and did that for a few years, nothing serious, just making a couple of little tunes, learning the program mostly, i was using fruity loops at the time, then a little while later i was introduced to Dubstep, namely The Widdler, Skream, Benga & Coki, and it really resonated with me, and over time gradually started making and listen to more of it. 

I’m not sure i can say what drove me to get "as far as i am now" as i don’t really see myself as being that far at all really lol, but as for what drives me to keep going in general, i think just the feeling you get when your music connects with random person is such a strange thing, it’s really mind blowing, i think my first taste of that was with my band, playing in front of crowds and seeing people head banging and stuff, and the thought that something you created helped someone express themselves in some way, or even just let off a little steam, it almost feels like you're doing a service, making something so that someone can enjoy themselves in some way, be it starting a mosh pit or relaxing to your music with a cup of a tea and a biscuit after work, it’s a good feeling. 

TSD - Where do you draw your influence from musically? 

T - I think like a most artists, my influences change periodically, In more recent years ive found myself drawn to Jazz music and blues, it seems to have a lot of passion and feeling behind it, and quite often i find it paints pictures in my mind when i listen to it, i think im always been inspired by music that makes you think of places and scenes, i always found myself influenced by film scores and soundtracks, i think it’s because they serve as aids to accompany visuals, therefore they have a predestined theme to them and have to capture a certain feeling or mood, i like to try and incorporate that into my own music. 

TSD - After 4 months of the release of your debut Ep "Koanashi" on Mindstep, have the reactions to it been what you expected? 

T – No it’s was much better! 

Haha well, it got to No.1 on the Juno Dubstep Chart, which was unreal, a real milestone for me personally, i really wasn't expecting it at all and the general feedback and response was great, people seemed to dig it, so that was very nice indeed! 

TSD - In your opinion, who is the audience that identifies with your music? 

T - Hmm, an interesting one, i think, my audience would be perhaps one of a more matured taste, i don’t mean that by way that if you don’t indentify with my music your "immature", 

i mean it in a sense that, i don't think the style of Dubstep I personally am pushing and supporting is one that you would jump straight into or become familiar with without first having listened to the other stuff, it’s like a small niche you discover as a result of delving deep into the Dubstep genres. 

TSD - In musical terms, which projects have drawn your attention in recent times? 

T - Well im always been a massive fan of Author and Submotion Orchestra, I love that they’re doing something different, and that they incorporate a lot of real instruments into their music, i think there not enough of that in the electronic music scene these days. 

Also, The Chord Marauders collective, again, they're just doing their own thing, pushing for that more melodic sound, these guys are the future, a group to look out for. 

TSD - What are your goals for the future? 

T - Just to keep pushing mine and my friend’s music to many people across the globe as possible, sharing the collective vibe. 

TSD - If you were stranded on an island and could only keep with you the following things, what would they be? 1 vinyl, 1 DAW, 1 piece of hardware, and 1 sandwich. 

T - I'd sell the vinyl for smoke before i left for said island.
